The past few weeks have been a hurricane of events and now that things have settled down I realize I want my own space. The house I've been staying in is very nice. There's a driver and people do your laundry and clean your room for you. The food is free and there's a gym/pool/restaurant in the backyard practically. Still, you figure out quickly that having four additional roommates (two of which are under ten years of age) and two adults on top of that is a pinch on your personal space to say the least. I was clear with the family before I arrived that I would be moving out once I got my bearings sufficiently. I'm one of those people that need their own space. The problem is I had no idea where to start. I don't want roommates and I don't want to spend a ton of money. What to do?
Earlier this week a nice woman I've met out here told me of studio apts for rent in a nearby district. She said they ran for about $300/month. It sounded great but I was picturing basically a closet with mosquitoes, much like the room Martin Sheen started out in Apocalypse Now. Was I ever wrong.
I move in on Sunday.
